Can a gaming service provider hold a poker tournament?
No, gaming service providers are not eligible to hold their own tournaments. In Manitoba, only eligible charitable and religious organizations can apply for a licence to conduct a Texas hold’em poker tournament. Licensed organizations can hire gaming service providers to help run a tournament, including providing equipment, dealers and assistance with event rules.
We want to sell gaming products to Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries. What do we need to do?
An individual or business must be licensed as a gaming supplier before being able to sell gaming products to Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries. Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries cannot purchase any product that can affect the honesty and integrity of gaming from an unlicensed supplier.
I am already licensed and have purchased another site with VLTs. Do I need to apply again?
Licensed business entities that have purchased a new location must submit a portion of the VLT siteholder application indicating the new location details. This licence will be added to your currently licensed business entity. If you are purchasing a new location as a different business entity, the new entity will have to apply to the LGCA.

Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries manages the installation of VLTs. Once you are granted VLTs by Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries and licensed by the LGCA, you must contact Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries to schedule the installation.
If I’m licensed, can I still participate in gaming activities or buy liquor in Manitoba?
This will depend on the policies of your workplace. Speak to your employer about any gaming- or liquor-related policies.
Does my employer receive information about my background investigation?
No. The information collected during your background investigation is kept confidential by the LGCA under The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. We only notify your employer whether or not your licence application is approved.
